DZR "CR" Brass is a copper and zinc alloy designed to resist corrosion and prevent the electrolytic phenomenon leading to zinc detachment and consequently, to the possible cracking of the fitting or valve. Additionally, because of zinc detachment and its refacing of closure valve areas, valve malfunctioning might be observed.

Drinking water can naturally contain chlorides likely to interact with metals.
